Berkeley firefighters rescued four tapped people from a two-alarm fire in a historic UC Berkeley office building.
Fire crews were called to the former Anna Head School on campus late Monday morning. Initial reports described substantial amounts of smoke as well as people hanging from windows on the second floor, according to a report by berkeleyside.org.
Upon arrival, firefighters deployed ladders to rescue the trapped occupants while working to control the fire.
Initial reports are the fire started on the exterior of the structure before spreading to the inside of the building.
Firefighters were able to knock down the initial blaze in about 20 minutes before starting extensive overhaul operations.
